“You, Me & Tuscany,” a romantic comedy starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, was released in theaters on April 10.
The movie shows Anna, played by Bailey, traveling to Italy after suffering a loss. She crashes at an Italian man’s villa and poses as his fiancé to his family. Anna ends up falling for the man’s cousin, Michael, who is played by Page.
Ms. Batula Hussein, a University Academy librarian, went to see the movie the first weekend it was released.
“The movie is about a young woman that puts her dreams of becoming a chef on the back burner to take care of her mother. She gets stuck along the way, and we go on a journey with her as she tries to take a chance and finally go for her dreams,” she said.
Page has been in movies including “The Black Bag,” “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” “The Gray Man,” “Sylvie’s Love,” “Mortal Engines,” “The Merchant of Venice,” and now “You, Me & Tuscany.”
His acting debut came in 2001 in the TV series “Gimme 6.”
Bailey is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She has had major acting roles in “The Little Mermaid,” “The Color Purple,” “Grown-ish,” and now “You, Me & Tuscany.” Her first time appearing on the TV screen was in 2006 for the Disney Channel movie, “Let It Shine.”
Ms. Butula said, “I thought Halle Bailey was so beautiful and captivating in this role!”
“You, Me & Tuscany” was directed by Kat Coiro, who has directed other romantic comedies including “And While We Were Here,” “Marry Me,” “A Case of You,” and “Life Happens.”
Ms. Butula described the movie as lighthearted, funny and visually appealing.
Ke’Vionah Martin, a UA sophomore, first heard about the movie when she saw a preview for it at the movie theater.
“Me and my friend were watching ‘Reminders of Him’ at the AMC, and the trailer of ‘You, Me & Tuscany’ played, and we were drawn, so we decided to make it our next watch,” she said.
For anyone interested in watching “You, Me & Tuscany,” it is still showing in theaters.
“You, Me & Tuscany” will be available for streaming on Peacock in July or August. The DVD is available for preorder on Amazon and can be expected toward the end of 2026.
