Spring is a time of growth for students at University Academy academically, personally and socially. Spring began March 20.
From sports to academics, the season has a plethora of activities to do.
Senior Jamiyah Allen said, “During spring, I enjoy taking trips to the park when the weather is nice out.”
Some big spring activities that students participate in include UA’s spring sports, track, soccer and baseball. Track is led by Mr. Adam Blackstock, while baseball is instructed by Mr. Martez Gardner and soccer is coached by Ms. Jordan Mclarty.
Spring is a great time for self-reflection, especially for the seniors as they gear up for their last few months of high school and remember all the joyous memories they have made in the halls of UA. Spring is also prom time and final college decision time for the soon-to-be graduates.
Senior Ashlee Ford said, “I enjoy the spring because it acts as a timestamp when counting down my school days. But I do not like the spring because the temperature is bipolar.”
During spring, the weather outside is still a bit windy and chilly, but it’s often somewhat warm at the same time. Spring is also very rainy, which is where the phrase, “April showers bring May flowers,” comes from.
Senior Arilynn Howard said, “I love the rain. It gets me in the mood to clean, do work and sleep.”
Since it is warmer outside during this time of the year, outdoor activities gain traction. Some outdoor activities to partake in may be going to a park and using its equipment, taking a nature walk in a park, making chalk art on concrete, riding a bike, volunteering somewhere and maybe even spring cleaning.
During the season, there are lots of holidays that take place including Easter, Earth Day and Mother’s Day. A common misconception is that Saint Patrick’s Day is a spring holiday, but it occurs just a few days before spring begins. Some other exciting events take place during spring include prom, graduation and the big senior send off dance.
Spring is a great time for people to experience growth, partake in new activities and experience new things.
